So, what is neurodivergent coaching, anyway?

Neurodivergent coaching is for everyone with ADHD, autism, and related co-morbidities. It’s not therapy; instead, it’s a collaborative partnership between coach and client. A lot of people think that coaching is about tips, tricks, or strategies. Unfortunately, there’s no cache of secret tips, tricks, or hacks that coaches get handed during our training. I misplace my wallet and lose track of time just like you do. That’s why I fully trust my clients to find their own tips and tricks - after all, you know your own brain best! But often roadblocks crop up when folks try to implement those tips and tricks, and find themselves unsure where to start, overwhelmed by choice paralysis, or unable to implement change in a sustainable or lasting way. That’s where I come in. Our coaching relationship often looks like a space where you can figure out what works best for your own neurodivergent brain, and how to work with the strengths and skills you already have as a way to create lasting change, build self-trust and self-reliance, and fully embrace who you truly are.

What do you mean by “inclusive”?

Here at Porch Light, I believe that everyone who wants to live their favorite kind of life should be able to have access to the tools and systems needed to do so. I myself am queer, polyamorous, and non-binary. With this in mind, I give priority to those clients who identify as BIPOC, AAPI, or within in the queer community. I also coach from an intersectional perspective, meaning that I understand how socio-economic status, marginalized identity, or other mitigating factors can impact your neurodiversity. With this in mind, I accept sliding scale payment and/or barter in addition to my listed prices.

Can I use my insurance to pay for coaching?

Coaches don't work with insurance, so you don't need insurance to work with me. Cost to the client is entirely out of pocket, which is why I offer sliding scale payment or barter in addition to the posted session prices. However, if you have a HSA or FSA, you are welcome to pay through those methods!

What are your prices?

My current pricing tiers are as follows:

30 minute weekly session: $50

60 minute weekly session: $90

60 minute weekly session plus daily accountability check-ins: $105

Sessions can be paid for a la carte or with a 4-session package (I take 10% off the packages as a thank you for paying up front).

Can you diagnose me with ADHD or other neurodiversity?

Coaches do not diagnose - after all, we don’t typically have medical degrees. Instead, I can work with you to create and maintain contact with doctors and therapists who can diagnose you, if formal diagnosis is a goal you want to pursue. Formal diagnosis isn’t a prerequisite for working with me; self diagnosis is valid as far as I’m concerned. If you want to work on building your favorite kind of life, I’m happy to work with you.

Do you work with kids?

I do not work with children under the age of sixteen at this time. However, I am more than happy to have coaching sessions with parents to help them learn about their neurodivergent child’s brain and how to have a better relationship with them.

Wait - who are you again?

I’m Rachel Ambrose! I am an ADDCA-certified ADHD and life coach (AACC). And as of 2023, I was just awarded the CACP (Certified ADHD Coach Practitioner) credential from PAAC (Professional Association of ADHD Coaches). I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2016 and self-diagnosed with autism in 2021, so I coach from a place of peer support and shared lived experience. I am also queer, non-binary, polyamorous, and geeky, so if you’ve struggled previously with feeling seen in all your beautiful and complex glory by mental health professionals, rest assured - I get it. And if I don’t, I probably know another certified coach who does!
